A graduate of Swarthmore College, Gennady Podolsky first launched his career in the travel industry while operating a tech-first business. Building the Right Team
Gennady Podolsky is a firm believer that the right team can help to build up the best outcomes. While many travel agents work ostensibly on their own, Podolsky implores team collaboration to stay motivated and inspired.
Podolsky says, “It is important to have great collaborators and staff who share your vision and passion and complement your strengths and weaknesses.”
To help his team operate to the best of their abilities, Podolsky likes to delegate to the strengths of the individual team members. Podolsky said in an interview, “I tend to focus on my strengths and delegate the rest. I help people around me to do the same, which creates an atmosphere of collaborative work.”
When people work within their strengths, Podolsky admits that it creates better outcomes for everyone. Podolsky stated, “This creates the right environment, where everyone is where they want to be and is doing what they love.”
Looking to the Past & Learning From It
To succeed in business, having a short memory for mistakes and a strong memory for learning from them is essential. Podolsky doesn’t like to dwell too much on his past, so he just wants to own it.
Podolsky says, “I don’t dwell on the past. I have had my fair share of accomplishments and missteps. I own it, and it makes me who I am.”
That said, Podolsky has learned from his experience in a tech-first business. His work at Swarthmore College would lead him to innovate in the tech field, leading to the success that he has experienced in recent years.
Podolsky says, “I am a big believer in technology and science and its potential to make our lives better, more streamlined, and generally more positive.”
Looking to the future, Podolsky emboldens followers to maintain their curiosity and to keep their eyes wide with wonder.
Podolsky stated, “I go where my sense of wonder takes me. My focus and inspiration will return when the time is right.”
